My paintings are self-portraits, studies of surface and an exploration of the barrier between the abstract and the figurative. Through documenting my interaction with elements of my own queerness, gender and memory my practice aims to create playful pushes against traditional representations of the male figure, portraying flesh physically and tangibly through the prism of my own sexuality.
My current work chronicles an exploration of sexuality through the pandemic, i.e. through screens. Each work was made using photos exchanged on dating apps, screenshots and thumbnails of pornography videos and text exchanges as reference.
